Details

In 1950, Father Jean Premat, the village priest and an iconic figure in our valleys, had a wayside shrine built at “La Ruade” to house a statue of Christ the King. This was in fulfillment of a promise he had made:
“All prisoners of the 1939–40 war had returned, and until 1945, there were no casualties among the population. ”
The majestic statue was sculpted by Jean-Constant Demaison, donated by a “Cluse,” and the wayside shrine was built by Mr. Taillot. Then, following the expansion of the ski area and the ski lifts, the wayside shrine was demolished and Christ the King was stored in the school’s basement.
In 2005, the Heritage and Tradition Association brought Christ the King out of hibernation to install him here “Sur la Perrière.” The dedicated heritage artisans carved and built an oratory in a very local style, and Christ the King descended from the sky thanks to a helicopter!
Enjoy this peaceful and tranquil spot! This lovely viewpoint, overlooking the village, offers a breathtaking view of the Aravis Range!
