Thônes has been chosen as the starting point for the Gran Fondo, which will end in La Clusaz on August 24. The Gran Fondo route will cover 115 kilometers with 3,256 meters of elevation gain, leading to the Route des Grandes Alpes in La Clusaz. A spectacular route that will showcase Haute-Savoie by tackling four climbs as it crosses the Bornes Massif before returning to La Clusaz. On the itinerary: the Glières Plateau with its famous gravel section of nearly 2 kilometers in the final stretch of the climb, the Col des Fleuries, the Brizon climb—which is none other than the first part of the ascent to the Solaison Plateau—and finally the Col de la Colombière. But it won’t quite be
over yet, as there will still be some effort required to make the final push to La Clusaz along the few kilometers of gentle climb separating Le Grand Bornand from the resort.
