From the air By Fred Mellet

Fred Mellet is the paragliding pilot from La Clusaz with whom we dream of taking off for our first paragliding experience. We asked him to tell us what La Clusaz looks like when he soars into the sky with his wing! Because he sees a lot of landscapes throughout the year…

Winter

In winter, La Clusaz dons its white cloak and becomes a winter sports paradise. The snow can offer unique gliding sensations, especially during take-off, a magical moment.
The snow erases the hills and contours. Flying over this immaculate landscape, you feel privileged to witness this season of purity and serenity.

Spring

In spring, the forest and pastures come back to life. The mountains take on a palette of bright, vivid greens. Some peaks are in full bloom, covered in mauve and blue wildflowers such as gentians and pansies… or yellow dandelions. Landing in the heart of the mountain pastures, the world is reborn after a long winter.

Summer

In summer, the days are long and hot, and the mountains turn into a summer playground.
It’s a great joy to climb up to the summits, most often the Crêt du Loup, for three-dimensional walks in the coomb, high above the pastures.
From the air, the summer light offers exceptional clarity, revealing the Alpine landscape in the minutest of detail.
Above the village, it’s easy to see the typical chalets of La Clusaz and its sunny terraces, offering places to chill out and socialise once you’re back on the ground.

Autumn

Autumn offers magnificent landscapes with the changing colours of its foliage – it’s like flying over a palette of glowing paints.
With a milder, more stable air mass, autumn, seen from the sky, makes a majestic entrance, bringing with it an explosion of colours that transform La Clusaz into an impressionist canvas that changes with every day. The peaks turn white, contrasting with the contours of the valley. This is the time for paragliders to marvel at this ephemeral beauty.
