Candide Thovex and La Clusaz: A Story Engraved on the Balme Massif<\/strong><\/p>\n

There are moments that mark the history of a ski resort, and today is one of them. A Local Hero Honored<\/strong><\/h2>\n

From his first runs on the Balme Massif to his internationally renowned feats, Candide Thovex has always helped shine a spotlight on La Clusaz as a leading destination for freeskiing. A true icon of global skiing, he redefined the limits of the sport with his unique style, inspiring generations of skiers worldwide.<\/p>\n

Today, La Clusaz pays tribute to him with a black run located between the Crintiaux slope and the Balme Col chairlift line. Untamed but secure, this unique slope perfectly reflects the essence of his skiing: boldness and creativity. Seven markers have been installed by the Ski Patrol, in collaboration with Candide, to mark this exceptional track, offering a unique experience following in the champion’s footsteps.<\/p>\n

The name of Candide Thovex now joins those of other champions who have made their mark in the resort\u2019s history: Guy P\u00e9rillat at Beauregard, R\u00e9gine Cavagnoud at L\u2019\u00c9tale, Edgar Grospiron at L\u2019Aiguille, and Vincent Vittoz at Les Confins. Balme, A Place Rich in History<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Balme has always been Candide Thovex’s favorite playground. Much more than just an iconic area of La Clusaz, Balme is a legendary place where Candide organized the mythical Candide Invitational from 2003 to 2008, revolutionizing the freeski scene. Today, this new slope becomes the symbol of that legacy and a tribute to his talent.<\/p>\n

Beyond being just a slope, it\u2019s an entire village expressing its gratitude to this champion, whose influence goes beyond the peaks. Candide continues to inspire us, and this slope is an invitation to follow in his tracks, with the same boldness and freedom.<\/p>\n
